Bihar Ideal About Us

About Us – Bihar Ideal (The Organisation)

Bihar Ideal is a cultural and musical organization deeply rooted in the heart of Bihar. Established in 2007, our mission goes far beyond organizing an annual singing competition. We exist to preserve, promote, and celebrate Indian music and culture, with a special focus on the legends who have defined it. In a time when traditional musical values are fading under the weight of modernity, Bihar Ideal is committed to being a bridge between the past, present, and future of Indian music.

Our Core Mission: Honoring Musical Legends

Throughout the year, Bihar Ideal organizes a series of tribute and remembrance events (श्रद्धांजलि समारोह) and birth anniversary celebrations (जयंती समारोह) dedicated to some of the greatest icons in Indian music. These include names like Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh, Ustad Bismillah Khan, and many more.

These programs are not mere rituals they are emotional, educational, and artistic gatherings where music lovers, students, and young performers come together to understand the life, work, and lasting impact of these great artists. Through live musical performances, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and community singing, we ensure that these legends are not forgotten by the next generation.

Each tribute or celebration is thoughtfully curated to reflect the unique contribution of the artist being remembered. From soulful renditions of Rafi Saab's classics to flute performances in memory of Ustad Bismillah Khan, every event serves as a living classroom of Indian music.

Preserving Musical Heritage and Culture

We believe that music is not just entertainment—it is a reflection of our heritage, our values, and our identity. At a time when traditional forms of music such as classical, folk, and devotional are struggling for space in the digital age, Bihar Ideal works actively to preserve these endangered art forms.

Our team regularly collaborates with:

  1. Local folk artists and classical musicians
  2. Cultural institutions and music schools
  3. Independent researchers and music historians

Together, we conduct awareness campaigns, public concerts, lecture-demonstrations, and workshops designed to educate young people about India’s rich musical traditions. We also engage in documentation and archiving of rare compositions and regional music forms that are at risk of being lost forever.

Beyond Entertainment: A Cultural Responsibility

Bihar Ideal is not a commercial body; it is a social and cultural initiative driven by a passion for music and heritage. Our volunteers, coordinators, and cultural ambassadors are deeply committed to the idea that music can unite communities, heal wounds, and pass on timeless values.

Through our events, we aim to:

  • Encourage youth involvement in cultural arts
  • Reintroduce forgotten musical gems to modern audiences
  • Promote gender equality in the arts by giving equal space to male and female performers
  • Keep the local language and folklore of Bihar alive through songs and stories

Annual Highlight: Bihar Ideal Singing Talent Hunt

While our organization functions throughout the year in the service of music and culture, we are best known for organizing the Bihar Ideal Singing Talent Hunt once every year. This flagship event serves as a platform to discover raw singing talent from all corners of Bihar and to introduce them to the world.

However, this competition is just one part of what we do. The real work of Bihar Ideal happens every day in small villages, schools, cultural halls, and hearts of those who care about India’s musical soul.

Vision for the Future

As we look ahead, Bihar Ideal is expanding its reach and refining its mission. We plan to:

  • Launch mobile cultural units to conduct music awareness in rural areas
  • Collaborate with national-level music institutions for joint projects
  • Provide scholarships and mentorships for young, underprivileged musicians
  • Digitize and publish our archive of live performances and tributes
  • Establish a permanent cultural center in Bihar dedicated to music research and preservation
